No matter where you are in your journey, there's a place for you here.
OUR MISSION
Created by and for Korean adoptees and DoKADs, AKA Philadelphia exists to foster connection, belonging, and cultural exploration throughout the Greater Philadelphia region. We build community by creating inclusive spaces for meaningful relationships, shared experiences, and personal growth while strengthening connections between adoptees, DoKADs, and the broader Korean community.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER

This community exists so that Korean adoptees can connect, share, and support one another. Here, we can talk openly about our experiences, celebrate our heritage, reconnect with Korean culture, and learn from each other along the way. Just as importantly, we can create friendships and relationships with people who understand parts of our story without needing long explanations.
Our goal is not to define what it means to be a Korean adoptee, but to provide a space where each of us can define that for ourselves. Through community, culture, and shared experiences, we grow stronger together.
I’m grateful you’re here and I look forward to continuing this journey with all of you.
To my fellow Korean Adoptees, DoKADs, and allies,
Welcome to the Association of Korean Adoptees - Philadelphia.
When I helped create this organization, my hope was simple but deeply meaningful: to build a safe and supportive space where Korean adoptees can truly be themselves. Our experiences are unique, layered, and often complex. Many of us grow up navigating questions of identity, belonging, family, and culture. No matter where you are on your adoptive journey—whether you are just beginning to explore your story or have been reflecting on it for years—you deserve a place where your voice is heard and respected.
